Documentary Simulator @ Sony
Technical Programming Lead

Aliens have finally revealed themselves to Earth.

Public opinion is mixed— many are fearful and paranoid of these extraterrestrial creatures, while others are embracing their harmful appearance and friendly demeanors.

Politicians and civilians demand to know: Where did they come from? What do they want? Why are they here? And most importantly, will they hurt us?

The Engineering

The process

• First we had the ideation phase where we ideated on what kind of impact we wanted to make with our game.
• Our Design lead recently had an experience where he didn't know what to ask someone with a physical disability questions where they would not get offended by.
• On top of that setting up equipment and finding the right camera angle can be difficult.
• So our idea is to make a documentary simulator thats helps any filmmaker practice such skills in the comfort of their home.

The Design

• After the welcome of another team member, she suggested a more gamified version of this project!
• This led to the implementation of the aliens into our project and the addition of a theme.

The Blueprints

This project led to learn a lot of how Engines work. Blueprints connecting scripts to functionalities as well as updates on UI based on user input. All of this would not have been possible without this project!

The End

This is one of the most fun collaborations that has happened at my time at USC! I enjoyed engineering everything in this game and really learned so much when we finally shipped the game at Demo!
